Trying something new!!! / Who Got Next?

So, this blog is supposed to be about Jay-Z and Lil Wayne and some loosely related items. However, I have found myself wanting to write about more and more. I have decided that the focus of the blog will continue to be the great Carters with the addition of any and everything in between.

Welcome to the new Carter 2 Carter!!! From Jay-Z to Weezy and ANYTHING in between!!!

So to get things rolling in the right direction I would like to draw your attention to the first of many up and comming artists that I will spotlight in the series called: "Who Got Next?"

This guy is straight out of College Park. ATL stand up!!!! He goes by the name of Demetrius Bra (pronounced BRUH) aka Meat Da Man aka The shirt and tie Guy. This fellow is definately bringing a new sound and SWAG to the rap game. I mean shirt AND tie?!?!?! Now that's smooth right there. Meat has even gone so far as to rap over some smooth jazz instrumentals. He recently performed in Cenntenial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta with jazz cool cat William Green. Unfortunately I was unable to make that show but from the buzz I've heard about it and the pics I've seen from the event, it appears to me that they rocked it hard. Oh I must add that this was no tiny crowd either. You can check his music out HERE and decide for yourself whether or not Meat Da Man GOT NEXT.

Here are some pics from the show at Cenntenial Olympic Park:

Nice looking crowd I must say.

I think they like it!

KRS-1 + Soulja Boy = History

How many people have said that Soulja Boy is the death of hip hop? How many people have said that Soulja Boy is the whackest rapper ever created? How many people have called Soulja Boy nothing more than a gimmick? The list of insults to Soulja Boy's talent (or in many people's opinion his lack there of) can go on and on for days. Ice-T says Soulja Boy killed hip hop, but neither him nor any of the other Soulja Boy haters have taken the time out to sit down with Soulja Boy and express their opinions directly. Now, KRS-1 had a great conversation with Soulja Boy on Rap City about the entire hip hop issue and the parts they both play in it. I think this was the best thing that could happen to hip hop now, right after "Swagger Like Us". SO here's the video to see for yourself.

Too Good To Play?????????

Now, this has absolutely nothing to do with Jay or Wayne, but the story caught my eye so I wanted to bring it to the attention of you all.
So there apparently is this 9 year old boy that is an AMAZING pitcher, like he's throwing balls at 40 mph. So the little league wants him to stop playing because he is too good and intimidating the other little leaguers. This seems pretty ridiculous to me, I say if you won't let him pitch with the little boys then let him pitch with the slightly bigger boys. Here's the link to the entire article.

Swagger Like Us

Certainly by now you've heard the leak of "Swagger Like Us" from T.I's upcoming album "Paper Trail". So I dont have to stress to you what a huge record this is. I mean, let's be real. T.I., Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, AND Kanye West on the SAME SONG! What could really be better than that. At least one of every hip hop lovers favorite rappers is on this song. Everyone loves at least one of these guys if not all of them. I think this is monumental.

Not only does this song line up four heavyweights, but its nothing like any of these other "Swag" songs we've been flooded with lately, i.e all of Rocko's songs, ummm even Blood Raw's "Louie Bag".

I would like to thank T.I for making this song a reality. This is something that rap/hip hop has been starving for lately. Not to down any of the other guys in the game doing their thing but think to yourself: When was the last time we had a song so real by artists that are so real and go so hard on their own regularly to come together on a track with an out of the box sample (M.I.A's "Paper Planes" [look it up on youtube if ya never heard it, it's cool])? I'm sure if we took the time to reminesce on it we could come up with whatever the most recent example is but off the top nothing comes to mind.

You knew I wouldnt leave with out posting it for you!

Just a Thought

This is just a random thought, but how cool would a collab between Lil Wayne and Natasha Bedingfield be? I think that would be a great song, I'd settle for Weezy putting 16bars on a "Pocket Full of Sunshine" remix. Better yet, I'd even settle for a Weezy freestyle over that instrumental. It seems a little obscure, but I believe that the two of them can make great music together. Let me know what you think. Leave a comment or email your thoughts to carter2carterspot@gmail.com .
