Lay It Down Remix w/ Patti LaBelle

I've always loved Patti LaBelle. Lloyd just released the remix to his song "Lay It Down" which features Patti LaBelle. I like the remix and the concept of LaBelle playing Lloyd's mother and giving him advice on how to treat his lady. Check it out here!

Chris Brown vs Raz B

Earlier today Chris Brown and Raz B got into a shoving match on Twitter. A few people were outraged but once I finally got a chance to read it for myself, it wasn't as ruthless as I had anticipated. I will admit that it seems Chris Brown over reacted form Raz B's initial provocation but hey it's Twitter and there are no rules. Check out the tweef for yourself. I've yet to see an internet beef as interesting as Soulja Boy vs Bow Wow.

Well, the time has finally come! The New York Post reported today that Beyonce and Jay-Z are expecting their first child. I wish them the best, and hopes everyone else can restrain their excitement enough to keep from chasing them down even more now.

Drake and Nicki Say they're married

We've all heard the line: "I love Nicki Minaj I told her I'd admit it. I hope one day we get married to just to say we did it. And girl I'm serious I'm wit it if you wit it...." Well today on Twitter the two announced their nuptials. According to both rap sensations' pages they are now married.

Who am I to dispute first hand accounts?

NEWS FLASH: Soulja Boy & Kat Stacks

O.O so I just watched the latest Kat Stacks tragedy and Soulja Boy I have no real sympathies. I'm not gonna add fuel to the fire by posting the video here, but it's not hard to find if you wanna see it. All I have to say is this is a great lesson for EVERYONE to learn, not just rappers. Be very careful of who you surround yourself with. Not everyone has your best interest in mind.

Poor lil Soulja Boy :(

I Get Money

I know I'm super late on this track but you all know how I feel about Amil. So what do you get when you put Lil Wayne's hot mama Nicki Minaj with Jay-Z's former hot mama Amil and add Lil Kim and Remy Ma? A pretty good remix. Check it out. Shout out to Twitter where I found this link!!

Catch Up

Drake's album is out and I don't have it yet. Even worse, i still don't have B.O.B's album. I refuse to buy them at the same time. I want to give each one the listening attention it deserves. So what I need from all of you is to tell me how you feel about each one you've heard. Which should be my purchase on Friday: Thank Me Later or The Adventures of Bobby Ray?

Find Your Love

Finally Drake has a worth while video. It took him long enough and now he's got a winner! I love the song, and I'm really feeling the video. Kudos Drake, let's get some consistency now!
Here's the video if you haven't seen it yet.

Swavor of the Week

I'm back, it's back and everything is on track.

It's Sunday so you faithful followers know what that means. This week's Swavor goes out to an aspiring R&B singer by the name of Christine. Simply said, this girl is a force to be reckoned with. She has a beautiful voice and wonderful lyrics to match. It's clear to me that she has talent and the potential to go places and do big things.

You need not take my word for it, I suggest that you visit her Myspace and check out her music for yourself.

While Wayne is away, Young Money is working. Lil Twist and Lil Chuckie released their video for "Girl I Got You" Personally, this is one of my favorite songs on the We Are Young Money album; it's just too cute.

Update! NOT Goin IN

Wayne's hit "I'm Goin In" I guess applies to everything he does EXCEPT going to jail.

This time his sentencing has been postponed due to a fire in the courthouse where he was supposed to appear. I don't like to perpetuate conspiracy theories, but I'm starting to think someone is getting paid very nicely to keep Weezy free.

Weezy Goes to jail...for real this time

So today is the big day...AGAIN! Wayne will start his time aways from family friends and fans today as he begins his sentence.

On the brightside...at least T.I. is home!!

All The Way Turnt Up

As not to get into the politics of this song, Roscoe Dash has finally released a video for "All The Way Turnt Up" featuring Soulja Boy. I just watched it today to find that one scene was shot in front of the GA State University Commons Residence Hall in downtown ATL. They made sure not to catch the actual sign in any of the shots, but anyone who has been there will recognize those infamous stairs and rails. So here it is.

Weezy Update

This just in: apparently Wayne was granted an extension until March 2nd! So until then he's still a free man. Anybody know T.I.'s release date? I'm sure it's in March sometime. Hmmm...

Wayne Goes In Today

As you Weezy fans must know, today is that infamous day. Lil Wayne will report to Rikers Island today. If you haven't already check out his interview with Rolling Stone Magazine about the issue. I have a feeling we'l be hearing a deluge of Wayne tracks for at least the next week.

Black and Gold Superbowl

Who dat said they gon' beat them Saints?
I've never been much of a football fan, but this whole Saints fever with WhoDatNation got me watching the games. I must say it was clear that the Saints had a greater hunger for the Championship than their opponents so they definitely deserved the win. I'm sure the city of New Orleans will be rockin for the next 3 months. Lil Wayne is probably writing a victory song as we speak, and it'll probably get released by the end of the week.

The Better Party: Mixtape Review

I mentioned these guys to you before a while back and here they are again. This time with an entire mixtape to present to you. The project is titled "The Better Party" and I downloaded it for free last night from EarthGang's official website. Today as I made my way through my day I listened to it and by no means was I surprised. I'll start with the first track: "Boom (EG Rock)" I can tell you now that this song will be going into my "most frequently played" playlist on iTunes. The production on this track is amazing; the sounds are so full and every instrument compliments each other perfectly. Luckily, the production quality throughout the entire mixtape is on par. Now let's talk about the artists, Johnny Venus and Sir Hobbes bring a certain something to the music that the rap game hasn't seen in recent years, a je ne sais qoui if you will. For the sake of making a comparison I would call them the young modern day on their way Outkast. As a sidenote I will add that while there is that Outkast undertone to their sound; you can't call one 3 Stacks and the other Big Boi, they are their own individuals indeed. To finish, I must mention track number 10. Hands down I call it dope. My criteria for a dope track? Simply said, if it makes me want to pick up a mic and hop on it myself, then I call it dope. "Throwed", the track I'm referring to, makes me want to step in the both ASAP, but we all know I won't so it's just the thought that counts here. "The Better Party" gets 2 thumbs up from me. Good job guys!!

Now that you have my opinion on it, check it out for yourselves. You can download "The Better Party" at http://earthgang.net/

GRAMMY NIGHT 2010

Congrats to all the winners! I was personally rooting for The Lonely Island to win for best rap sung collab for "I'm On A Boat" but I guess you can't win em all. Anyways, was I the only one who noticed that for the 2nd year in a row, Lil Wayne had the closing performance! That's a pretty big deal. I bet Drake was super excited to be performing at the Grammy's when this time last year he was just about to release "So Far Gone".

Friday, January 22, 2010

Oh Weezy

So Wayne will be "going away" next month. I guess we'll just have to ride on We Are Young Money and Rebirth til he gets out. On the brighter side of things however, once he starts his sentence, it will be only about month before T.I. gets out.

Swavor of the Week

And it's back. This week's Swavor goes out to one guy that's been holding it down consistently. As a matter of fact he's got an EP on iTunes right now. It's called "Simon Illa Sessions" and it's produced by none other than the infamous Simon Illa. So who am I referring to? I'm bringing your attention to Atlanta's own Rellik Rebel. You can find him performing all over the city and battling with Grindtime, and his new mixtape "The Recess" will be released this year.

You can check out snippets from the mixtape "The Recess" by going to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoI70EIr6OM

Then check out the EP on iTunes http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/simon-illa-sessions/id343080181

We Are Young Money!

It's been a long time since I've posted but I'm experiencing EXTREME technological difficulties, so bear with me people. Today I just wanted to share with you a quick spoof video to give you a laugh. What better way to start off a semester right?
