Robin S. is our Lost Spotlight feature:
I'm no stranger to the music of Robin S. You might remember me posting one of her very early works on the site a few years ago. Since that time, Robin has been honing her talents and perfecting her craft. I think she's on to something with the direction her new music is going. I've been sitting on this post for just about a month now and I can't keep it hushed any longer.
Back in August Robin S. released a song on YouTube called Back to Bed which will be featured on her EP Key to the Corporate Bathroom. I wasn't sure what to expect from it, but already knowing what a lovely voice Robin has I knew it wouldn't kill me to listen. One thing is for sure this song has two things I find most important on a first listen: Good Beat+Good Hook. Back to Bed is a smooth and mellow track. It's got an early morning vibe that can either keep you cozy in the covers with your significant other or get you out of bed to go find your boo cup. The production and her vocals marry quite nicely and the lyrics are just sensual enough to leave you longing for a love of your own and yet conservative enough to play for your parents.
